*Sixmilebridge U10 Camogie Squad Enjoy Memorable End-of-Year Trip to Galway*
Sunday, November 9th
The Sixmilebridge U10 Camogie group wrapped up their last blitz of the 2025 season in style with a memorable end-of-year trip to Galway, where they travelled to Rahoon to take on the Rahoon/Newcastle Camogie Club.
The team set off early on Sunday, filled with excitement and proudly wearing their club colours. The day began with unexpectedly glorious November sunshine, giving the trip a warm, upbeat atmosphere. With crisp air, bright skies, and perfect conditions, everything was set for an unforgettable closing chapter to the season.
Upon arriving in Rahoon, the group was warmly welcomed by the Rahoon/Newcastle mentors and players. The friendly hospitality was evident straight away, and both squads were eager for the morning’s action. The blitz featured three fifteen-minute matches, giving every player plenty of time on the pitch and an opportunity to showcase the skills they’ve developed across the year.
Before the first whistle was blown, the mentors set the tone with some fun encouragement: the girls were told to put in a strong performance or there’d be no Wildlands afterwards! Delivered with a smile and taken in great humour, it added a playful spark to the morning.
The camogie on display throughout the three games was excellent. The Sixmilebridge girls demonstrated fantastic teamwork, sharp striking & great movement. The parents & coaches were treated to impressive passages of play & several well-taken scores. Despite the competitive edge, the mood remained positive and encouraging, reflecting the shared values of both clubs and the focus of enjoying the mornings action.
After the final whistle, Rahoon/Newcastle extended their hospitality with a lovely spread of fresh fruit, tea, and coffee. Players and parents relaxed and chatted while the girls were eagerly awaiting the next part of the trip.
Next came the moment the girls had been buzzing about all week: their visit to Wildlands Adventure Park. The excitement was very evident as they headed for the treetop trampolines. The hour that followed was full of laughter, bouncing, and boundless enthusiasm, with the girls enjoying every minute of the unique activity high among the trees.
Afterwards, the group gathered for a well-earned hot meal at Wildlands. As everyone relaxed during this meal, the girls spoke about the matches and the trampolines - great memories to have from a brilliant day.
A big thank-you goes to the Sixmilebridge Camogie Club for their generous contribution to the trip, and to the parents who made the long journey to Galway to ensure every girl could take part. Their continued support has been invaluable throughout the season, helping the players grow in confidence, skill, and camaraderie.
As the U10 squad made their way home—tired, happy, and full of stories—the trip was unanimously agreed to be a perfect end to the 2025 season.
A fantastic final blitz of 2025—filled with teamwork, friendship, and Sixmilebridge pride. All combined to give the girls a day they’ll remember for years.
