Barry Quinn memorial tournament
Saturday the 19th of September saw the running of our Annual Barry Quinn Memorial Under 10 tournament. Visiting teams from Athenry, Na Piarsiagh, Ahane and Newtownshandrum joined 2 Sixmilebridge teams on the day and did not disappoint when the hurling commenced. After 4 matches each it was a Galway/ Cork final with Athenry going for 3 in a row. At the final whistle Newtownshandrum came out on top with a well deserved victory.
Members of Barry’s family were present to award each team a memento and present the cup to Newtownshandrum. The day was a great celebration of Barrys memory and gives us a chance to host the visiting clubs with whom we have formed great bonds with over the years.
Andy Fitzgerald(Bruff) memorial tournament
On Sunday The 27th Of September, The Sixmilebridge Under 10’s traveled to Bruff in Co.Limerick to take part in the Andy Fitzgerald Memorial Tournament. Ran on a league basis we faced all Limerick opposition in the shape of Doon, Bruree and hosts Bruff. The 3 game’s saw some great hurling from all the teams involved with some great skills on show.
At the end of the evening joint captains Evan Neenan and Darren Hurley received the cup from Andy Fitzgerald's parents. The bridge lads represented the club very well on and off the field and were a credit to their families, mentors and their club. Great travelling support again from all the families involved and they gave great vocal support at all times. Thanks to all who made the day a great success.
