Our seniors were in action on Sunday in Round 1 of the Clare Senior Hurling Championship in a local derby game with neighbours Wolfe Tones Na Sionna.
Following a blistering start including a Cian O'Rourke goal the Bridge found themselves 1-9 to 0-2 down on 12 minutes. They did fight back and 3 goals from Brian Corry, David Kennedy and Shane Golden reduced the deficit to 6 at the short whistle on a scoreline of 2-14 to 3-05.
With the elements in the second half the Bridge piled on the pressure but a resilient Shannon defense held us off to see them run out 2 point winners.
One of the few positives for the Bridge was the treble Championship debuts for Mark Sheedy, Zak Flynn and Dara Fitzgerald - Well done boys.
Two massive games now remain with a game against Newmarket in Tulla in 2 weeks and a game against Kilmaley in Cusack Park in round 3 both must wins to keep our championship hopes alive.
