Our Junior Camogie team travelled to Truagh-Clonlara for their second-round championship encounter knowing they faced a strong and experienced home side.
From the very first whistle, it was a fiercely contested game, with both teams showing plenty of intensity, determination and commitment. Truagh-Clonlara were a well-organised outfit, with a number of experienced players, including former senior camogie players, providing plenty of composure and strength through the middle of the field.
However, our Bridge girls were never going to be outworked. They battled for every ball, chased hard and gave everything right to the final whistle. On the day, Truagh-Clonlara were able to make their frees and opportunities count a little more consistently and came away with the win. There are plenty of positives for the Bridge to take from the performance.
In goals, Sarah Farrell produced a number of excellent saves when her team needed them most, keeping the pressure on the home side. At full-back, Megan Gaule was outstanding throughout. She showed great courage and determination, cleanly catching a number of high balls that dropped dangerously into the Bridge defence and leading by example from the back. Up front, Emily Reddin kept the scoreboard moving with some superbly struck frees, along with an excellent point from play.
While the result didn't go our way, every player who took to the field gave 100% effort and commitment. There was no shortage of heart, work rate or determination, and the girls can be proud of the way they represented the Bridge.
