Sixmilebridge 2-14 Éire Óg 0-04

Éire Óg was the venue for this round 4 match between Sixmilebridge and Éire Óg. The Bridge were by far the strongest throughout this affair, opening the scoring in the 4th minute with a well taken point by Dara Casey after a shot by Ferdia Ó Lionain was blocked by the Éire Óg defence. This was followed by an excellent run by Conor Maxwell from midfield, which was unlucky not to result in a goal as the ball was cleared by Éire Óg’s Liam Hutton to Ó Lionain who converted it for the Bridge’s second point. They continued in this vein for the following 15mins with two more points from Evan O’ Callaghan before the home side registered their first two scores, both from Darragh Stack with one from a free. Sixmilebridge responded well with a great run along the side line by Noel Flynn, who, after winning his free, converted a brilliant score from a difficult angle and distance. Three more scores from the Bridge and a single point from Éire Óg left the halftime score at 0-8 to 0-3 to the visitors.

The second half began with a series of wides for the Bridge before they scored their first goal in the twelfth minute from James Egan. After a fantastic save by Éire Óg goalie Cian Meere was won back by the Sixmilebridge forwards, the ball was passed to Egan who hit an unstoppable shot into the net. The away side dominated the rest of the half with more excellent scores from Flynn, O’Callaghan and another goal from Egan after a fantastic run by Conor Gilligan to put the Bridge well ahead. Éire Óg only converted one point in the second half but some excellent performances were put down by Eoghan Hahessy, Kacper Lis and goalie Cian Meere while Ferdia Ó Lionain, Dara Casey, Conor Maxwell and Noel Flynn were impressive for the Bridge. The final score was 2-14 to 0-4 to a strong Bridge side.
