Sixmilebridge 2-21 Clarecastle 1-11

The Bridge and the Magpies met in round 1 of the Clare Intermediate championship at noon on Sunday in Newmarket with the Bridge wining with 13 points to spare. The evening before both clubs lost players to their respective Senior teams and the Bridg as expected lost the services of Pa Mulready and Jason Loughnane.

However there was still plenty of firepower in the team and they hit the ground running with firsthalf goals from Ronan Touhy and David O'Connor to ensure a 2-10 to 0-03 point lead having played with the elements. The second half was a more even affair with the magpies hitting 1-08 to the winners 11 points.

The Bridge now go on to play Bodyke next weekend with the winners advancing to the quarter final after a 1 month break.
