Seniors open title defence with win over Clonlara

Cusack Park on Saturday evening saw the Bridge seniors start then defence of their title against Clonlara in what was the 3rd game of a treble header at GAA HQ. Rumors all week were proven to be true with the absence of county players John Conlon and the Galvin brothers Ian and Colm from the Clon team while the Bridge were without 3 of last years team in Alan Mulready, Alex Morey and Barry Fitzpatrick. Jamie Shanahan opened the Bridge account with a free and was the main threat througout the first half with 0-08 points while Shane Golden chipped in with 2 from play to put us 0-11 to 1-07 up at half time.

The Bridge introduced Gilly for his 24th Senior Championship campaign and he hit 2 points as did other sub Gavin White with single points form Deasy and Curley to complete the scoring. 

We now go on to face Crusheen in round 2 on this Sunday at 1:30pm while Clonlara will face Wolfe Tones in their next game.
