We came across this gem of a photo of the great Mick O'Shea in action for Clare Senior Hurlers 55 years ago in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick where he lined out in goals for Clare.

The game in question played in 1964 was against Tipperary with an official attendance of 23,000 and while Clare lost on a score line of 6-13 to 2-05 the picture shows one of the many outstanding saves from Mick during the course of the game. Mick led the way for a strong tradition of Bridge men to wear the #1 for Clare which included his next door neighbor Pat Collins as well as All Ireland medal winner Davy Fitzgerald.

Mick won 2 senior championship medals with the Bridge in 1977 and 1979 along with his sons Kieran (Toc) and Seamus and was also part of the management team who brought the Tommy Moore cup back to Garneyside in 1996 following our only All Ireland Club success.

Thanks to Micks daughter Valerie for the photo and the story behind it - If anyone else has any similar blast from the past send it in to us with a few lines detailing the photo (administrator@sixmilebridgegaa.com).
