There is a famous song written about 1995 which includes the following lyrics ...

It was in the year of 95 in the middle of July

all munster suffered sun struck and the grass was all burnt dry ...

The summer of 1995 was one of the hottest on record, one of the fondest for Clare GAA supporters and one of the greatest for Sixmilebridge GAA supporters. The Bridge are the most decorated underage hurling club in Clare but always fell short when it came to the All Ireland Feile title. Our closest was an All Ireland semi final defeat in 1988 to Wolfe Tones in what historians say was the greatest game ever played on O'Garney Park in front of the biggest gate attendance recorded.

Today marks the 25th anniversary since the Bridge were crowned Joint All Ireland Feile Champions with Drom & Inch of Tipperary in the Gaelic grounds in Limerick. Later that year the Bridge defeated Scariff in the Senior County final before marching on to All Ireland glory while 4 club legends Holla, Rusty, Fitzy and Fletcher won celtic crosses as Clare ended an 81 year famine. Great memories,
