Our Under 13s got their Championship season underway with the A team hosting Kilmaley in O'Garney Park on Friday evening and the Academy team travelling to Eire Og on Saturday afternoon.

The A team got off to the perfect start against Kilmaley with an early goal from Zak Phelan. A strong first half performance including a fine solo goal from Rory Chaplin saw them take a comprehensive 5-04 to 0-01 lead into the half time break. Kilmaley shored up their defence in the second half with the Bridge boys finding scores a bit harder to come by before eventually running out 5-10 to 0-04 winners.

The Academy team got off to a sluggish start on Saturday and found themselves trailing 3-02 to 1 point coming up to half time. A goal just before half time gave the lads the momentum going into the second half. A massive effort in the third quarter saw them bring it back to one score (3-02 to 2-02) at the second water break. Unfortunately, Eire Og hit back with a goal after the second water break and eventually ran out 6-02 to 3-02 winners. Scorers in this game included Cian McInerney, Tommy Healy and Leon Duggan.

In total we had 36 Under 13 players representing the Bridge this weekend and we look forward to seeing them in action in many more games over the coming months.
