Another excellent initiative the club are happy to support this week is the Darkness into Light event - Info from Bernie and the Event organisers.

The countdown is well and truly here. Darkness into light is taking place this Saturday morning at 4.15am. Join us and support us in any way you can big or small. This year we are asking people to make up their own mind whether they complete the 5km walk or if they would just like to join us at the GAA pitch before or after the walk to greet the sunrise, have a chat and a cup of tea and feel the buzz of the community coming together once again.

Registration

If you are still hoping to register we will have a committee member at the GAA on Thursday afternoon from 2.30 to 3.30 to help with registration and also to take donations. Again on Friday we will have a committee member in the square from 6pm to 7pm to help with registration and also to take donations. We have a small amount of t-shirts left also if you need them. If you are unable to meet the times above and still need assistance please pm the page and we will be happy to help.

Lighting the Way

The last few years we were incredibly lucky that so many estates made an effort with displays of light and art works for our crowds to enjoy. We really hope that this year will be no different. We would still love if anyone who has previously left out a display or a show of support that If you see this message and are willing to put something out for us please get in contact. Ideally we would love to hear from every area that we pass but we understand if that is not possible. We greatly appreciate any effort made. If you wish to get in contact please do.

We received many lovely comment over the last few years about the effort made by young and old in the village and we hope to continue to make the night as special as we can.

Route

The 5 kilometre circuit begins at Sixmilebridge GAA car park grounds: cross to Sixmilebridge National School and turn right, next left at Beechwood grove, on down by the Bridge Kids complex, right at the Shannon road proceed to the train station where we will do a loop of the station back out, cross the Shannon road into Ashview estate, from Ashview proceed into Sycamore close, at the main entrance to Sycamore close take a left proceed to the village & take a right down through the village, at the cross roads take a left proceed up taking a right by the Jamica Inn and taking a left at Cluain Droichead where we will cross from that estate into Mount Ivers estate. Once at the entrance we will take a left bringing us back to the Village center, take a right at the cross roads back up though the village and take the first right by the library back up to the GAA hall where we will do a lap of the pitch to complete our 5k.
