The U13s got their championship campaign underway with games against Clarecastle and Eire Og last week.

Sixmilebridge v Clarecastle

Clarecastle were the visitors to O'Garney Park last Thursday evening for the championship opener. Playing against a strong wind, our lads got off to a slow start with the Magpies making the most of the elements. A couple of pointed frees from Conor Keogh and a goal from TJ Finnan mid way through the first half got our scoreboard ticking over. A bright start to the second half saw Sixmilebridge generate several goal opportunities but unfortunately could not capitalize on enough of them to overhaul the Clarecastle lead and we eventually lost out on a score of 2-19 to 2-8. Good performances in this game from captain Tommy Healy, Liam Flannery and Neil Og McGiollaCearra.

Sixmilebridge v Eire Og

Next up for the A squad was an away game to Eire Og on Sunday morning. This time the Bridge lads made the bright start in blustery conditions, going into half time with a lead of 2-4 to 1-0. The boys remained in control in the second half and eventually ran out 2-9 to 1-3 winners. Strong performances on this team from captain Dougie Brew (who contributed 1-1), Dylan McInerney and Harry Loughnane

This weeks games

The U13s play an Academy away game to Clooney Quin on Thursday (16th) evening and an A home game v Inagh Kilnamona next Sunday (19th) morning.
