After a clean sweep of victories in their 3 group games, the u14s welcomed Kilmaley to a blustery O'Garney Park last Saturday morning for a quarter final fixture.

Playing with the aid of a strong breeze, the Bridge opened the scoring with a Stephen Gavin point after 5 minutes. The lads had plenty of scoring opportunities in the first half and were disappointed to enter the break with a slender 5 point to 1 point lead.

A goal right after half time by Stephen Gavin seemed to be just what the team needed to drive on to victory. Kilmaley however proved dogged opposition and tacked on a goal and a couple of points to pull them right back into contention. A rash challenge by a Kilmaley defender on Rory Chaplin with 15 mins to go saw the Kilmaley man get a red card and Rory leave the field for treatment. With Zak Phelan taking over the free taking duties, Sixmilebridge managed to maintain a 3 point lead heading into the final minutes. The lads sealed the victory with a late Cillian O'Connor goal after good build-up play by the half forward line.

Another good team display with notable contributions from Stephen Gavin (1-3), Jack O'Halloran, Luke Deegan and Dylan McInerney.

Final Score: Sixmilebridge 2-10 Kilmaley 1-6

Sixmilebridge now play Clonlara in a semi-final next weekend (time/venue to be announced)
