Parish League 2023

The team panels and managers for the 2023 league have been finalised. The Whatsapp groups have been set up and the banter has started. Kilmurry have failed in their bid to tempt back their 2022 Parish league winning manager, Jamesy Hassett. Hassett cited work commitments, others have indicated it may have been the split to Junior and Senior for 2023 and Hassetts analysis that Kilmurry dont have a chance this year as the reason!

Anyhow Kilmurry natives Adrian Hogan and John Macnamara will take the reins for the Kilmurry Senior team and along with Brendan O' Callaghan who is taking the Junior team, they will hope to be able to return the Mikey Sheedy cup to Kilmurry.

In Cappa, Senior management representatives, Adrian Chaplin and Mike Halla O' Halloran will take the reins. They feel the split in teams has worked out well for them this year, although there has been a dispute already about one players residence! This is being looked at by the Committee but managers are standing their ground and the matter may have to be referred to the Gaa's DRA, Dispute Resolution Authority. Terence Chaplin and Gerry O' Halloran are taking the Junior team continuing the work they have done with a number of these players over the past 12 months. Young Fionn Hayes, fresh out of minor will be one to watch here on their Junior team and of course the Fitzpatricks and Shane Golden will be shoring up their Senior team.

The Village team will be managed by Pat Keane and Danny Reddan, who have plenty of experience to guide the Townies to a first Parish League win in a number of years. Indeed the Village now comprises of the full village rather than the previous St. Marys and St. Finnachtas split. This should benefit the Village teams. The Junior team will be managed by Junior C winning manager and Tom Sheehan. Young guns Dara Casey, Noel Flynn and Evan Murphy will take watching from this Junior team and of course the Senior team is made up of Moreys, Corrys and Downes all well capable on their day.

The Mountain Senior team will be managed by Senior coach, Jim Fitzgerald and he has a very good side this year, including the likes of Jamie Shanahan, Paidi Fitzpatrick and the Lynches. The Junior side is to be managed by Syl O' Conor and PJ Fitzpatrick as it was felt that they would be able to communicate better with the Mountains ageing Junior panel, whose avearage age is quite high!

Throw in for game 1 will be on Saturday next, 21st January at 4pm in the new Arena. This will be a first chance for some of the adult players to get a taste of the new Arena.
