After 5 rounds of the Parish League, it is wide open as to who will lift the Mikey Sheedy Cup! Very little separates the townlands. Next Friday night will see the end of almost 12 hours of very toughly contested matches. Well done to referees Sham Carr, Mikey Corbett and Mike O' Halloran, a tough gig in the melting pot of a parish league, but the games would not be possible without lads stepping up.

The Arena has been a great assset for these pre season games, minimising travel times as in previous years, there was a long trek to Ennis or Parteen.

There will be a Junior Final and a Senior Final in week 7, but next week in Week 6, there will be an Overall Parish League Winner.

Senior Parish League,

Round 5

Mountain 16

Cappa 18

In the senior games last night in the parish league, the Mountain faced Cappa in game 1. At 5 goals a piece after the 1st third this was a tough game, with some heavy exchanges between cousins Paidi and Lorcan Fitzpatrick but ultimately the 1st third goalkeeping exploits and quick hands of Dan Chaplin probably made the difference, he brought off some excellent saves to keep his team in the game. Sean Lynch kept the game ticking over with some excellent finishing but ultimately it was Cappa who finally prevailed on a scoreline of 18 goals to 16.

Senior Parish League,

Round 5

Kilmurry 15

Village 17

Another very competitive game followed between the Village and Kilmurry, Brian Carey leading the Kilmurry team in battle who were missing a few, against the Corrys (Brian and Paul) and Morey's (Caimin and Alex). It was 6 goals a piece after the 1st third, and was very close and tense throughout but eventually the Village ran out as 2 goal winners on a scoreline of 17 goals to 15. Sean Macnamara and Carey played well for Kilmurry and Alex Morey played well with his scoring boots on again for the Village.

Junior Parish League,

Round 5

Mountain 17

Cappa 17

A very entertaining game between Cappa and the Mountain saw them eventually end up drawing on 17 goals a piece. Cappa had good performances from Paul Fitzpatrick, Dan Chaplin & Seamus O' Connell, the Mountain having good displays from David O' Connor & Danny Dunne.

Junior Parish League,

Round 5

Kilmurry 8

Village 10

In an unusually low scoring game, Mikey Corbett and Tom Sheehans Village team used their advantage of legs off the bench to ggod effect. The younger Kilmurry side, some possibly tired from the Senior game earlier, never really got going. Good for Kilmurry was Gary and Evan O' Callaghan as Evan Murphy and Jason Murphy stood out for the Village.
