This week saw history made in the Bridge Club when we had 3 teams in Championship action in the same age group. In past years the Adult side of the club has to be commended for having 4 teams to ensure hurling for all players overage for minor but the Minor club is continuing this ethos of promoting hurling with 3 teams in the U13 Championship.

Much kudos goes to the Minor club and U13 Hurling manager Caimin Morey who backed the idea of 3 teams in order to facilitate the 47 boys hurling at the ages of 12 and 13.

First out this week we had the Bridge Saffrons who played Cratloe in Cappa Lodge - After a very competitive game the 'Bridge were unlucky to lose out to a brace of goals hit in quick succession in the second half. Next up for these boys is an away game against Scariff/Ogonnolloe on Wed 7th June.

At the same time the Bridge Blues were in action in Clonlara for their game and ran out winners with some excellent point scoring throughout the hour. Next up for these boys is a home game against Bodyke/OC Mills on Wed 7th June.

The U13A team had the short trip up the road to Newmarket on Saturday morning for what the cliche describes was a game of 2 halves. Unfortunately for us the second half belonged to Newmarket as they ran out winners by 8 points in the end. Next up for these boys is a home game against Clooney Quin next Saturday.

While the results for the 3 teams were up and down the important thing is all 3 teams are competitive with the aim to keep the 45+ boys at this age hurling with as many competitive games as possible to help with their long term development and lining out with one of our many adult teams.
