This Sunday Clare face Galway in the All Ireland Minor Hurling Final in Thurles - It is hard to believe that this will only be Clares 4th time in an All Ireland Minor Hurling Final. As a club we have been very fortunate to have been closely associated with all those final appearances and this Sunday is no different as Mark Sheedy will line out between the posts just like a club hero Davy Fitzgerald did in 1989 while Matthew O'Halloran will line out at Wing Back/Midfield just like another hero Seadhna Morey did in 2010. This Sunday the boys will join 12 other Bridge players who have lined out in All Ireland Minor finals in the past something we are all very proud of.

Clare have contested All Ireland Minor finals in

1989 when Clare lost out to Offaly on a scoreline of 2-16 to 1-12. The Clare team had 3 Bridge boys playing in Davy Fitzgerald, Christy Rusty Chaplin and Padraig McNamara (RIP). The Offaly team included team of the millenium hurler Brian Whelahan who captained the side.

2010 when we lost out to Kilkenny on a score line of 2-10 to 0-14. On that Clare team that played we had Seadhna Morey, Kevin Lynch, Cathal Malone (who transferred to the Bridge later), Alan Mulready and Jamie Shanahan all of whom saw action on the hallowed turn of Croke Park with Seadhna turning in a man of the match performance in what the papers described as the game of his life

CLARE -- R Taaffe ; H Vaughan, P Flanagan, S Morey; E Boyce, K Lynch, S O'Halloran; C Galvin, T Kelly; C Malone, P Collins, J Shanahan; D O'Halloran, N Arthur, D Keane. Subs: A Cunningham for Malone (41), A Mulready for Vaughan (inj, 47), D McInerney for Arthur (58).

1997 we reached the holy grail - after losing out to Tipperary in the Munster final the Clare Minors were the first team to come in the back door and win an All Ireland title when they defeated Galway by 1-11 to 1-09. This final win was very special because it formed part of a historic double as the Clare seniors won the All Ireland. In the semi final Clare defeated a Kilkenny minor team lead up front by the great Henry Shefflin.

The minors were captained in 1997 by our own John Reddan and the team also included Stiofan Fitzpatrick, John O'Meara and Wayne Kennedy (who transferred to the 'Bridge at later stage).
