Sixmilebridge Gaa Arena – April Update
Current Status
The Sixmilebridge Gaa Arena committee would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has joined the club lotto in support of the Arena to date. We have managed to visit almost every house in the parish, so thanks to all our sellers in the different areas for that!
The current number of new lotto participants by standing order stands at close to 300. To all those who have not yet joined, we still want and need your support. We will only reach our target of completion of this project by the start of 2019 with your support. We are endeavouring to reach 400 new members.
Over the next 2 weeks our sellers will be hitting the streets again to try and bolster our numbers so please show your support when they call to your door. Our sellers will do their best to meet all of you personally but sometimes for one reason or another this may not work out. If you would like a brochure dropped to you over the next week or have a completed brochure that you want collected, please contact one of our committee members. Or indeed the completed brochure can be dropped to the hall any Monday night during Bingo.
Thanks again for all your present and future support of this much needed facility for the ongoing growth and development of our club.

The Arena Grants committee have now completed the application process and submitted the application for Sports Capital Funding under the 2017 programme. An announcement is expected on the outcome of successful applications over the coming months. The application was prepared by a dedicated sub-committee of recruited volunteers for which the club is grateful of all your efforts. The sub Committee consisted of Chairman, Ian Chaplin and members, Flan Quilligan, Vincent Delaney, David Deighan, John Gaule, John McNamara, Christy O'Connor, Joan Keogh.
Arena Fundraising Committee - Update
Another sub committee is busy working away on a special fundraising event to be held in December of 2017 for the Arena. The 3 day event will have as its headline event a Strictly Come Dancing Show and this promises to be a fantastic weekend. The dates for your diary are the weekend of December 1st-3rd 2017. The sub-committee of ladies under the stewardship of Kevin Phelan organised the very successful Club Social earlier this year in the Bunratty Castle Hotel. Many fun events will be held over the weekend and some big headline acts are rumoured to be booked!!
Club Lotto - Update
The new lotto which, by way of reminder - there are now 10 (instead of 5) lucky dip winners who each win €30 weekly. The lotto also increases weekly now by €300, it currently stands at €5100. The jackpot of €7700 was recently won under the new system by Cappa Lodge native, Mary Glynn.
Site Works
In December of last year some club volunteers, young and old were only too delighted to plant beech trees along the concrete boundary wall to the Lios Anama estate and the public road. These were planted at the request of nearby residents of the Lios Anama estate. Also the Lios Anama name plate and mini wall for the nameplate were reconstructed at the entrance to the estate.
