U15A Camogie Championship
Sixmilebridge v Kilmaley
Venue: Kilmaley GAA
Wednesday, 17th April
Sixmilebridge 5-4 Kilmaley 3-7
Following on from the disappointment of losing to Kilmaley in the semi-final of the Fèile competition over the weekend the U15A camogie team travelled to Kilmaley on Wednesday evening to play in the 3rd round of the u15A Championship. Having won their first 2 games they were hoping to make it 3 from 3 and remain top of the table.
The Bridge girls started brightly scoring a goal in the first few minutes. Kilmaley responded with 3 points to level the game. The Bridge then scored 2 points to put them 2 ahead after 15 minutes. Two quick goals and a further point from Kilmaley put them in the driving seat and they went in at half time 2-4 to 1-2 ahead.
The Bridge girls came out in a more determined fashion after the break and through a massive amount of hard work from all the team began to get the upper hand. A goal and a point from the Bridge brought them back into the game. Kilmaley responded with a point of their own. The Bridge girls then scored 3-1 without reply to put them 8 points ahead after 25 minutes of the second half. The remainder of the game saw Kilmaley put on a lot of pressure and they scored 1-2 to leave 3 points between them at the end with a final score of Sixmilebridge 5-4 Kilmaley 3-7.
This was a great team performance from the girls with excellent leadership shown from in particular Moyra O'Grady, Sally Harrison and Eimear Peacock.
Next up for the girls is their final game in the league format against Truagh-Clonlara on Wednesday May 1st at home.
