Similebridge 3-15    Clarecastle 0-6.

After the excitement of Feile earlier in the week it was back to business in Sixmilebridge last Friday evening for the Under 14A championship Round 4 match against Clarecastle. The Bridge won the toss and elected to play with what was a very cold strong breeze.

From the start the Bridge took control of this match and within 4 minutes Evan Murphy had two points from play and Luke O Halloran had a goal following a lovely pass from Noel Flynn. The Magpies got their account open with a lovely point from Niall Og Touhy  after 6 minutes, but from there on the Bridge ran riot scoring at will aided by the wind. Five more points from Evan Murphy (4f) and a Cian Gleeson goal from out on the wing after 20 minutes underlined the strength of the bridge forwards. Noel Flynn had a point in the 23rd minute and had the ball in the back of the net 5 minutes later after he finished off a rebound save from Óisin Whelan in the Clarecastle goal to leave the half time score 3-08 to 0-3.

The Bridge made two changes at half time with Óisin Breen and Conor Murphy coming on in place of Adam Murray and Scott Kirkland. Murphy moved to full forward and O’ Halloran moved out to wing forward.

With Clarecastle now having wind advantage, the thought was it would be a much closer affair in the second half but the Bridge were just too strong for them. They did get a chance of a goal six minutes into the half but a great save from Cian Fawl denied them, and after that their challenge fizzled out. Sixmilebridge then cleared the bench with Edmund O’ Grady, Oran Carey, Calum Lynch, Coby McDonald, Dylan Dunne and Jack Hughes, replacing Michael Carey, Morgan O’ Connell, David Kennedy, Seamus O’ Connell, Dara Casey and Luke O’ Halloran.

For Clarecastle Óisin Whelan (Goalie) was very sharp and had a very strong puckout into the wind. Samuel Browne, Noel Copely, John Cullinan, and Rory O’ Connell were also strong out the field. The win leaves Sixmilebridge sitting on top of the table with four wins from four games.
