Our Under 15 girls have been very busy for the last 3 months both on and off the pitch. They started 2025 with the second half of their Athletic Development with Morey Movement. All girls thoroughly enjoyed these sessions and are reaping the benefits now, with increased fitness, agility and speed on the pitch.

Once these sessions finished up, it was full steam ahead with Championship fast approaching. A couple of challenge matches against old friends, Gort, and one against Toomevara, got them match ready, along with lots of ball work in the Arena.

A team bonding day out was next up for the girls, and they thoroughly enjoyed a trip to Clare Paintball at the beginning of March.

On St Patrick’s Day, these girls were spotted in the Square, selling their fantastic bakes and treats. A regular stall now at the Parade, they had queues all day and sold out! They also held a raffle with some great prizes. Thanks to the girls for their wonderful fundraising. This money, along with sponsorship from Mincon, Shannon, helped pay for some lovely training gear for the girls.

St Patrick’s weekend also brought with it the first match of the U15 Championship. Our U15As got off to a winning start, defeating Smith O’Briens on a score line of 2-09 to 3-3.

Next up was Newmarket on Fergus. A great performance by the ‘Bridge girls was not enough to secure a win against a strong Newmarket team on this occasion and Newmarket took the win 0-5 to 1-6.

A thrilling match against Inagh Kilnamona last Monday resulted in a two point win for the Sixmilebridge team. It was nip and tuck throughout with the scoreline at the end 4-3 to 3-4 in favour of Sixmilebridge.

Our U15 Academy team were in action against St Joseph’s Doora Barefield last week. The new format for Academy this year ensures all teams progress to knock out stages, and with a panel of 32 players, the Academy provides valuable game time for all players who do not play full matches in the u15A. St Joseph’s came out on top this time, beating the Bridge 3-10 to 4-03. It was great to see excellent skill on display from both sides.

In the midst of all this action, the girls took some much needed timeout and took part in a mental health workshop, “Ahead of the Game” organised by Healthy Clubs. They learned how to cope with everyday pressures and how to  support themselves and their teammates. This was followed by a very informative talk for the parents and coaches. Thanks to facilitators, Iggy Clarke and Conor Bohane who did a great job!

Next up for u15A is St Joseph’s at home at 7pm on Friday night and our u15 Academy travel to Clooney Quin on Monday evening at 6:30. Come out and support the girls!
