U10 Camogie Update
The U10 camogie group have been training very well over the past few weeks. We are seeing super numbers at training & hearing from the girls that they are practicing in school & at home is fantastic from a coaches & club perspective. We have joined up with the U11s for some recent sessions & completed some internal matches – this has been received well by the girls & is sure to benefit both age groups as we move forward.
Over the past few weeks outside of these mixed games, the U10 girls have taken part in a few of their own blitzes.
May 9th Blitz V Cratloe –
The girls took to the field to take on our near neighbours Cratloe. Both teams fielded 4 teams each & everyone played 4 games in what was a very competitive blitz. This will be a fixture to keep an eye on in the years to come as this early rivalry is already building.
May 25th – 2nd Go Games Blitz –
Last Saturday we took part in the second “Go Games” scheduled blitz. This saw ourselves as the host club & we welcomed 3 clubs – Ballyea, Kilkishen & Wolfe Tones.
All teams fielded 2 teams each with each team playing 4 games throughout the hours action. In typical Irish weather, the sun we saw on arrival quickly decided to hide itself behind the dark clouds just prior to throw in & then these clouds decided to wet us with their presence for the full hour !
In fairness to all the girls in action, they didn’t let this affect them at all, in fact it seemed to spur them all on. All teams can be very proud of what they displayed in some wet, cold & windy conditions.
Outside of the coaches (Setup & management of the teams) & the parents (Girls in correct colours & arrivals on time) & camogie club (treat bags & support), please note a special mention to a few people who assisted on Saturday & that is to our referees. We had 4 super referees in place for each pitch, a huge thanks to Roisin, Sophie, Rebecca & Cormac for all their help. Some of the girls are newly qualified referees & they did a fantastic job during the blitz and can be very happy with their refereeing skills. It was positive to see all the coaches & players show their respect to them throughout.
Training continues for all the girls & they continue to develop, learn and improve as the year progresses.
